Appendix II
Definitions of Levels
Novices are expected to:
- general participation in guild activities such as Meet and Greets, baskets for Royalty, etc.
- study their main area of interest.
- Write a short paper detailing a project (materials used, methods applied, etc).
- call upon guild members for assistance in learning the arts and are eligible for mentoring programs with Journeyman level or higher.
- may discuss projects with the Textile Muse prior to beginning.
Novice status will be granted if they have placed 3rd in a Kingdom Level A&S Competition in the area for which they are applying or by completing requirements as listed in Appendix III..
Journeymen are expected to:
- assist in the instruction of students.
- assist in judging work submitted to the guild for membership.
- promote textile arts, write articles for the Guild website or publish for a Baronial or Regional Publication
- teach classes in their area(s) of interest on a regular basis (one or more classes per year) or make class notes available on the guild website.
Journeyman will be granted status by placing 2nd. in a Kingdom level A&S Competition in the area for which they are applying or by completing requirements as listed in Appendix III.
Artisans are expected to:
- teach two or more classes per year or make class notes available on the guild website or write articles for various SCA Publications (Pale, Artes Draconis or Complete Anachronist).
- make past projects information available on the guild web site.
Artisans will be granted level by placing 1st in a Kingdom level A&S Competition in the area for which they are applying or by completing requirements as listed in Appendix III.
Senior Artisans have achieved all requirements for Artisans in three or more areas of interest.
